Description: New Year's Eve day starts with rich old Mr. Luther seducing his maid D'Arcy. Zelda, the artist, is then shown touching herself. Ross, the trumpet player, gets an alternate treatment for his hangover from his lover Celeste. Louis, the sailor, hurries home to his missed girlfriend Betsy and finds himself joining her and lesbian Faith. Ross fights and makes up with Brandy, the singer. Erin, the babysitter, gets it on with her boyfriend, Jonathan. Having enough, Louis heads to a pub and leaves with a lonely wife. Her husband Artie does the same with Zelda. The party begins as Celeste arrives as Mr. Luther's caterer and catches him with his maid. She hides in the laundry room after he tries to do the same with her, but he follows her, and his maid locks it externally. Elsewhere, Alice, the starlet, tries to get a casting couch with Roman, the producer, while her mother, Gloria, is picked up at the party by younger guest Arthur.

Cecil Howard, who makes the best erotic movies ever, returns with his usual multi-vignette production. Shot in New York, with lots of interesting shots that you may not even find in mainstream films, Howard is a true filmmaker, as opposed to a pornographer. Tells of a bunch of folk and their intertwined lives on New Year's Eve. Veronica Hart, Samantha Fox, Marlene Willoughby. and Vanessa del Rio are very memorable. Aside from David Morris, none of the leading men are good-looking, yet these ladies give incredible, passionate sexual performances, as well as terrific acting jobs, particularly Hart and Marlene Willoughby. Hart and Fox are at the height of their legendary beauty. Foxtrot is def. recommended hardcore fair.

Cecil Howard, like director Chuck Vincent, made many superb adult films in the 80s that were set in New York.

An uninhibited carnal carnival on New Year's Eve, it is expertly photographed and staged, acted professionally, and ravishingly designed.

Not heavy on plot, it throws a deep focus onto the lives of its complex, fascinating characters.

The mighty have fallen far since the period films like FOXTROT were produced. Only a handful of directors - John Stagliano, Brad Armstrong, Rocco Siffredi -- are still making erotic as opposed to grotesque pornography (which, of course, has its own unique merits).

Howard's films, even in the '80s, were enigmas.
