Description: Frederick sees a photograph of a ruined seaside castle, which triggers a strange childhood memory. He then goes on a strange quest to find the castle and the beautiful woman who lives there.
A vampire film from which footage was used for Suce-moi vampire.
The male star is Jean-Loup Philippe (see Le Sexe qui parle), who plays Frédéric. Paul Bisciglia plays a psychiatrist. Willy Braque plays a gunman on the Metro. Serge Rollin plays the young Frédéric. Julien Etchevery plays the publicist at the cocktail party. Various other males appear in minor roles, including Rollin himself as the watchman at the cemetery.

Review:
Unfortunately for Rollin, this film was released at a time when softcore was no longer in vogue, and so it lost money. The director was talked into shooting additional scenes for a re-release as a hardcore film, titled Suce-moi vampire, which did better financially but was not as good in the opinion of many film critics and fans.

The hardcore version is difficult to find, and has not been released on DVD. A few old tapes are still in personal collections but the video has been out of print for many years. Rogerleon posted a rip of one, which sadly has poor picture quality:

This re-issue of the softcore original, on the other hand, is in superb quality and a pleasure to watch, especially for fans of vampire films in general, fans of Jean Rollin (of course) and even for fans of the hardcore performers who appear, such as Anita Berglund, Béatrice Harnois, the Castel twins, Claudine Beccarie, Martine Grimaud, and Sylvia Bourdon. Willy Braque and Victor Semama, both of whom have minor roles here, appeared in many hardcore French classics.

The lead actor, Jean-Loup Philippe, should be familiar to many of you from Pussy Talk (aka Le sexe qui parle). He played Eric, the husband who is plagued by his wife's talking pussy.

The actress Annie Belle, who plays Jennifer (the girl in white), appeared in a few Rollin classics, and was later cast in the lead role in the ill-fated Laure (aka Forever Emmanuelle, 1976). The story of that film is very interesting..

Like Hitchcock, director Jean Rollin often did cameos in his own films. Here he plays the guard at the cemetery, who the four lovely vampires kill. That scene also happens to be the one where we get the best views of the vampire beauties, nude under their slinky see-thru dresses.
