Review:
Delicious not quite one shot wonder Debra Allen (she was "Monica Small" on the Mitchell Brothers' FLESH FACTORY, information courtesy of IAFd critic Gemini 06) stars as a college student who gets the assignment to do a paper on a subculture of her choosing. This being an adult film, she chooses the sex businesses of San Francisco and gets in way over her head as well as other assorted body parts.

She answers an ad in the Berkeley Barb by a married couple, Tony and Elizabeth, looking for young girls for "instruction" in an incredibly arousing encounter that has the wife verbally guiding Debra and her husband through their paces prior to actively joining in. She mail-orders Scandinavian printed porn (I actually remembered some of those early Color Climax photo spreads !), makes an obscene phone call to a guy whose face we never even see and takes center stage in a typically friendly San Francisco orgy with another FLESH FACTORY starlet, Sunny Waters, as one of the uncredited participants.

Refreshingly free of moral judgment, this early XXX classic holds up very well today and not just because it taps into one of the most enduring male sexual fantasies either, i.e., the eager-to-learn school girl. Gerber (signing here as "David Reberg", employing an anagram of his last name), who also made the even more obscure BAD BARBARA and THE COMING THING at around the same time, has a great eye for erotic detail that actually enhances the many leisurely paced sex scenes, all of which are performed with great gusto by a cast of relative unknowns (save for early blue screen legend George S. MacDonald of BEHIND THE GREEN DOOR fame who plays the boyfriend with the truly impressive sideburns).

Sexually splendorous moments abound, with the delectable Debra joining in the fornication festivities at every turn. A particular turn-on is the threesome she performs with a father and son team, dad being the same guy who performed with Fran Spector (star of Howard Ziehm's classic HARLOT) in the legendary San Francisco loop SCHOOL DAZE, as identified by late genre critic cum filmmaker Jim Holliday. While Debra's screwing about town, her roommate (hot hippie chick Susan David) is working hard at becoming teacher Eric Humphrey's pet.

There's an infectious sense of fun to the proceedings, people making up for what they lack in thespian prowess (or, by today's standards perhaps, physical appeal) in sheer erotic energy and enthusiasm. Not even the haltingly ad-libbed dialog or slightly outdated production - though sex scenes tend to be beautifully crafted with careful editing and subtle use of dissolves - can harm this baby. Debra's frequently misunderstood final lines on the presentation of her paper - keep an eye out for Susan's reaction - further cement SCHOOL GIRL's status as one of the very best early, pre-THROAT adult movies.
